Ever wonder how Ayn Rand is still a thing or ever was for that matter?

 Wealthy People
Listen to this:  John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight has a short video asking these questions and more about Ms. Rand.  It is quite remarkable to me that a figure such as she has had to influence that people profess.  But then again, we are talking about the 1% and those who think they might make it there someday.

Bernie Sanders on the American invasion of oligarchs and plutocrats and the need a political revolution

 Read this
Read this: In this Salon.com interview with Thomas Frank, Bernie lays it on the line about the declining middle class, the plight of the poor, climate change and the rather obvious fact that the two party system we are locking into is not going to solve any of this without drastic changes.  He hasn’t decided if he will run and I am torn on the possibility of losing his voice in congress, but take a look.

Ask the EPA to reject Syngenta’s bee-killing pesticide proposal

 Bees are dying
Sign the petition: This is not a minor change in bee-killing agribusiness products.  This jumps the effects to unbelievable levels.  Swiss agribusiness giant Syngenta, which is one of Monsanto’s biggest competitors, just filed paperwork with the EPA requesting permission to increase the amount of the bee-killing pesticide thiamethoxam it uses on alfalfa, corn, barley, and wheat crops by up to 40,000%. If approved, this proposal would be absolutely devastating for bees and other pollinators.
The EPA has opened a crucial public comment period to take feedback on Syngenta’s bee-killing proposal – but we only have a few days to flood it with comments and save the bees.

Accidental Science – can be amazingly productive

 Science
Read this: This Daily KOS article relates the story of three 16 year old girls and an accidental discovery made because of their science project.  “When a gardening project went awry, they discovered a naturally occurring bacteria in soil called Diazotroph. The girls determined that the bacteria could be used to speed up the germination process of certain crops, like barley and oats, by 50 percent, potentially helping fulfill the rising demand for food worldwide”.

Forget ebola, the infection in the US democracy is the Koch Brothers’ Toxic Empire

 KochExposed
Read this: Tim Dickinson of Rolling Stone magazine provides a great glimpse into the major active force effectively suppressing most “We The People” actions within the US.  The bottom line is that “We The People” don’t matter as much as the two Koch brothers.  Nobody should have the kind of influence the two wield.  One estimate says that “so far in this cycle, Koch-backed entities have bought 44,000 political ads to boost Republican efforts to take back the Senate”.   Wow, and just think we are supposedly equals.  I guess that means they each have about 22,000 ads.  Not sure about the rest of you but I don’t have my first add yet.

Naomi Klein Interview on ‘Capitalism Vs. The Climate’

 Climate vs Capitalism
Listen to this: If you don’t know who Naomi Klein is then you should definitely listen to this. The 2nd part of this NPR radio interview, “On Point with Tom Ashbrook”, airs a great interview with Naomi Klein related to the release of her new book, “This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. The Climate“.  Naomi boldly pushes the point that capitalism, as it exists, can’t make the changes that are needed to avoid the devastating affects that Climate Change predicts.   We simply do not have the time.  She beautifully defends her premise and I must admit I think she is right on.  The only thing she leaves out is the prerequisite for an amendment eliminating Corporate Personhood (see MoveToAmend).  I havn’t yet read her book but it is next.

A funny routine on the idiots we have given power to – this must stop

 Video
Watch the video: Last night Jon Stewart exposed a dirty BIG secret in Congress. This is really an embarrassment not only in the US but abroad.  As he so humorously shows, many on the House Science and Technology Committee have no business being there.  And yet these are people making decisions, or not, on our behalf.  Decisions that may have devastating consequences for future generations.  That means our children and grand children.

Daily KOS is right, it time that polluters pay for what they do to the air we breath

 Clean Air
Sign the petition: Ask the EPA to make dirty coal polluters pay for their pollution.
Dirty power plants are the single largest source of carbon pollution that is driving climate change. Right now, these plants are dumping as much carbon as they want into the atmosphere, and we and our children are stuck with the costs. It’s time to adopt common sense limits on carbon pollution from power plants.

Again, no $ for the Unemployed or Food Stamps, but plenty for Bombs and War

 Better than war
Read this: If you ever wonder who runs our national agenda, this article will definitely give you some insight.
We’re spending a million dollars on each missile we fire. Imagine how much that money could help people who are poor, sick, hungry, homeless, unemployed, or otherwise in need. Yet, the same Republicans that vote against extending Unemployment Comp or for food stamps cuts have no problem spending tens of billions for war.
